    Accepted Answer. Sadly enough, there is no way you can drop a sub-weapon and be left with none. The only way you can achieve the special item crush is if you progress through the game without picking up a single sub-weapon, and gain enough hearts to perform the special item crush. (Which requires 100 hearts to perform.)
